The Children’s Room is a grassroots-based organization that relies heavily on volunteers and individual donors.

Our operating budget for the current fiscal year, which ends on June 30, 2011, is approximately $405,000.  We expect to raise 85% of our budget from individual donors, which is consistent with national trends in giving.

Charity Navigator, a non-profit watchdog and evaluator, recommends that non-profits spend 75% of their budget on program costs.  That leaves about 15% for administrative expenses and 10% for fundraising.  The Children’s Room is committed to achieving these targets every year.  Historically, we have achieved those goals.

In 2006, the Catalogue for Philanthropy identified The Children’s Room as one of Massachusetts’s Outstanding Charities.
