How You Can Help

There are so many different ways that you can help support The Children’s Room!

Consider volunteering.
Share your time and talents, professional or personal, at The Children’s Room.

  • Organization – the work behind the scenes
We need help with public relations, graphics, website, office work, fundraising, and even gardening!
  • Support Groups – facilitating
We also have opportunities to volunteer in a group as a facilitator.  Volunteer group facilitators are the heart of TCR’s unique offering to the community.  Being present and listening with your heart to a child who has lost someone they love is a wonderful gift to the community.  Join the 80+ wonderful volunteer facilitators who give their time, energy and caring to help create a safe place where grieving children, teens, and families can come together.

Make a donation.
There are always opportunities to donate money to our organization as a whole or to a specific initiative, gift cards to area businesses from which we secure goods and services, and various items that we use on a regular basis (like art and office supplies).

  • Online Donations
You can make a secure online donation at any time.  We will send you and anyone that you choose to honor a letter in the mail to recognize your gift.  You are also welcome to send a check to our Arlington address.
  • Wish List – items we need & welcome
We gratefully accept in-kind donations for items we need for both our programs and administration.  Please see our Wish List for specifics.
  • Annual Memories Walk
Join us, support our walkers with a pledge, or encourage your business sponsor the event.
This walk is open to everyone, and is our largest community event of the year. Information about this year’s Memories Walk will be updated as planning progresses.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Learn more about us.
Read more about us on our website, visit our house for a tour, attend a discussion group or workshop, come to a community event, or give us a call.  There are many ways to learn more about what we do!

  • Tour and Tell
The doors to our house in Arlington have opened wide and the community has been coming in to visit. Each Tour and Tell gives an insider’s view of what goes on at The Children’s Room. Tours are scheduled at least once a month and last under an hour.
  • Events
We try to keep our Events page updated with our upcoming discussion groups, workshops, and special events.  Visit our website periodically to see what is new, or become part of our email list to receive notice.
  • Teen Performance Troupe
Come to see our Teen Performance Troupe. These teens have created an original show about the grief in their lives.  Each performance is followed by an open question and answer period.

Spread the word.
Please let others know that we are here.  We are the only center of our kind in Massachusetts.  We have Resources on our website for those who are too far away to take part in our programs, or who are not ready yet.

  • Support Groups
Our Peer Support Groups offer children, teens, and their families an opportunity to find connection and community after the death of an immediate family member.
  • Education & Consultations
We are here to help educators, physicians, and others that work with children, teens, and their families.  We offer a series of workshops at our house, and customized training to meet specific needs.  We are also available to provide crisis response to a community that is dealing with an unplanned death or other traumatic loss.  For a family or a child in need of individual support, we can give very personal consultations. More information is available on our Education & Consultations page.
