Isabel’s Story
Isabel’s family was referred to The Children’s Room by Dr. Arthur after Isabel’s father died of cancer when she was four. Isabel, her sister, and her mother attended TCR for two years.

In her own words, Isabel shares a special memory of her dad, and how she feels about The Children’s Room. Her artwork expresses her emotions. |
| The same feelings and experiences of loss that adults experience occur in children as well. But children grieve differently, and depending on their age and development may appear not to grieve at all. They become the forgotten mourners. Children need to have their feelings respected and validated as they struggle to make meaning around the death. |
