We are so excited for the 125th Boston Marathon!

We’re proud to introduce the runners on our 2021 Miles & Memories Team! They will run in the celebrated 125th Boston Marathon on Monday, October 11.  Please donate today to show them your support!

The Children’s Room creates safe, supportive communities so that no child, teen, or family has to grieve alone. We believe that grief is a natural and healthy response to death, everyone experiences grief in a unique way, and being with others who have experienced a death reduces isolation and can provide hope. All of our services are offered to our grieving families free of charge which means we rely on generous donations to keep our programs funded. By helping our runners reach their fundraising goals, you’re providing support to families facing the death of a parent or child.

Thank you for supporting our 2021 Miles & Memories Marathon Team as they prepare to run 26.2 miles for grieving children, teens, and families.

If you prefer to make an offline donation, checks can be mailed to The Children’s Room, 1210 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA 02476.

Spotlight on Liz Martino

Liz and her children, Matthew and Caroline, lost the rock of their family in December 2020 when Chris died suddenly and unexpectedly. To lose Chris at such a young age when they were in the midst of an exciting and happy life together was absolutely devastating. Chris was incomparably fun, fiercely loyal, and infallibly competent.

Since his death, Liz says they have been lucky to find The Children’s Room, an important lifeline for people suffering immeasurable grief. Grief counseling can be prohibitively expensive, and having this resource in a time of crisis can truly be lifesaving.

“I’ve decided to run the 125th Boston Marathon to raise money for The Children’s Room, a cause now very close to my heart. If you can, please consider donating in memory of Chris, and to support others suffering the unending grief of losing a cherished loved one. And make sure to look for me at the marathon — I’ll be wearing the shirt saying ‘I run for Chris.’ “

The Children’s Room is fortunate to have an additional team member who is running virtually from PA.  Read why Andy Breisch is running to support us.
