The Children’s Room (TCR) creates safe, supportive communities so that no child, teen, or family has to grieve alone. Grief support services are offered for children and families, for schools, and for community organizations. Services include peer support groups, parent groups, teen programs, and Family Night. Consultations and referrals are also provided.
Program Specialist, Information & Referral (I&R) and Data – Part-Time
Position Summary:
We’re seeking a highly organized and compassionate Program Specialist to support our information & referral (I&R) and data systems. This direct service role plays a key part in ensuring families receive timely and grief-informed care from their first contact with TCR. You’ll maintain accurate records, manage I&R communications (directly with families and professionals), organize referral resources, and support program data tracking. The position reports to the Program Director, Center-Based Services. It is a hybrid position with required in-person hours at the TCR office in Arlington, MA.
Non-Exempt Part-Time (approximately 16-20 hours a week)
Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Direct communication with families regarding their inquiries about services with empathy and care, and correspondence with professionals regarding referrals for additional resources.
- Track information and referral inquiries accurately.
- Maintain and organize I&R records.
- Manage up-to-date resource/referral materials.
- Support program paperwork, family records, and group placement logistics.
- Maintain accurate records in the database and other systems.

Required Skills & Experience:
- Clinical background (or similar experience) with the ability to correspond and communicate directly with TCR participants.
- Detail-oriented and organized with strong administrative skills.
- Comfortable with databases, spreadsheets, and cloud-based systems
- Experience with Google Workspace and/or Google Suite tools preferred
- Warm, welcoming, and professional communication style
- A commitment to supporting children, teens, and families who are grieving
Compensation & Benefits:
TCR offers a competitive nonprofit salary commensurate with experience. This is a part-time, non-exempt position (approximately 16-20 hours).
