Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart and soul of The Children’s Room!

We offer two trainings each year for those interested in working with children and families as a group facilitator.  Volunteer group facilitators are an essential part of TCR’s unique offering  to the community.  Being present and listening with your heart to a child who has lost someone they love is a wonderful gift.

The Children’s Room has nearly 100 wonderful volunteers who give their time, energy and caring to help create a safe place where grieving children, teens, and families can come together.

Volunteer Training for group facilitators

  • We have an intensive 30 hour training program that is typically broken into five sessions.
  • For volunteers interested in facilitating a group, attendance at each of the training sessions is mandatory.
  • Volunteer trainings take place at The Children’s Room in Arlington.

Our next training for volunteer facilitators will take place in January 2012:

Saturday, January 7th from 9am – 5:30pm
Sunday, January 8th from 10am – 3pm
Wednesday, January 18th from 5:30pm – 9:30pm
Saturday, January 21st from 9:30am – 5:30pm
Sunday, January 22nd from 10am – 3pm

**Snow date** Sunday, February 5th from 10am-3pm

In addition to working with the children and families as a group facilitator, there are other ways to volunteer.
Help with public relations, graphics, website, office work and fundraising is always welcome.

We Need Volunteers with Diverse Experiences

It is important that our volunteers reflect the diversity of the children and families we serve, so we are especially interested in attracting a diverse volunteer population.
