Running for Resilience: Anne Bunn Takes on the Boston Marathon

For Anne Bunn, running has always been about resilience and determination. In 2016, she took on the Boston Marathon to raise funds for the Mass General Cancer Center, a cause close to her heart as an MGH breast cancer patient since 2011. This year, Anne is stepping up to the starting line once again—this time to support The Children’s Room and its mission to provide grief support for children, teens, and families.

Anne’s journey with TCR began through a close connection. She learned about TCR from Emi White and her sons, Kai and Ren, whose lives were deeply impacted by the organization. Seeing firsthand the difference TCR made for them, Anne was inspired to run in support of its work, ensuring more families can access the support they need after a loss.

But Anne’s connection to grief support runs even deeper. When she was just two years old, her mother died of pancreatic cancer. Growing up without a resource like The Children’s Room, she understands how valuable it is for grieving children and families to have a place where they feel seen, heard, and supported.

Running with Purpose

Anne’s love for the Boston Marathon goes beyond the physical challenge. It represents grit, structure, and dedication—qualities she carries with her in both running and in life. Training for such an intense race requires perseverance, but for Anne, the true motivation comes from knowing that every mile she runs will help grieving families find comfort and connection.

“I know firsthand the importance of this kind of support,” Anne shared. “The Children’s Room does incredible work, and I would love to raise money to ensure it continues to reach families in need.”

Every Mile for Families Who Need Support

Anne’s run is about more than just crossing the Boston Marathon finish line. It’s about honoring the families who have experienced loss, ensuring that no child has to grieve alone, and making sure organizations like The Children’s Room continue to be a source of comfort for those who need it most.

By supporting Anne’s journey, you are helping provide free grief support to children and families navigating life after loss.
