A Race for Resilience: Chloe Marguils Runs Boston to Honor Her Mother and Support Grieving Families
For Chloe Marguils, running has never just been about fitness or competition. It’s about strength, perseverance, and the unbreakable bond she shares with her mother.
Chloe’s mother wasn’t supposed to run. After a near-paralyzing accident when Chloe was in high school, she spent years recovering—undergoing multiple surgeries and learning to walk again with the help of a walker. But she refused to let her injuries define her. Instead, she made a bold decision: she would run the New York City Marathon.
That moment changed everything.
“She is my rock and inspiration,” Chloe shared. “She gives me purpose and strength to run every day for a cause.”
Inspired by her mother’s resilience, Chloe laced up her own running shoes, and the two began running together—race after race, mile after mile. Now, she’s taking on one of the world’s most iconic races, running the Boston Marathon to support The Children’s Room and the grieving children and families who find strength through its community.
Running for a Greater Purpose
Chloe isn’t just a marathoner—she’s a runner with a cause. Over the years, she’s completed 14 marathons and multiple ultramarathons, but her motivation has never been about personal records or self-gain.
“I don’t run the distance for my own selfish gain or making PRs,” she said. “I genuinely run marathons and undergo the training to make a difference in my life and the lives of people I touch.”
That sense of purpose led her to The Children’s Room. “TCR is a family, just like my own, that unconditionally loves and supports its members through their hardships,” Chloe shares. For her, running Boston isn’t just about achieving a goal—it’s about giving back. “I don’t want to stop with supporting my mom and nurturing our relationship,” she said. “I want to share my passion and love for helping others by running and fundraising for The Children’s Room.”
A Race With Deep Personal Meaning
Boston has always been special to Chloe, but this year, it carries even greater meaning. Not only is she running to support grieving children, but she’s also fulfilling a deeply personal goal—taking on this marathon with the support of her mother.
Chloe’s mother ran the Boston Marathon two years ago, with Chloe cheering her on from the sidelines. This year, their roles are reversed—her mother will be cheering her on as she crosses the finish line. While they aren’t running side by side this time, they hope to one day run Boston together.
Every Step for Families Who Need Support
For Chloe, running has always been about more than the miles—it’s about making a difference. Whether she’s running with her mom or helping grieving children find connection through The Children’s Room, every step carries meaning.
“I know how important family connections and support are,” she said. “I have learned from my mom and seeing how my family worked together during such trying times in our lives. I want to pay that forward to others.”
