On May 9th, The Children’s Room hosted its annual Circle of Hope Breakfast. This powerful gathering, which brought together over 350 compassionate individuals, was a testament to the strength of our community and the power of shared empathy. It was a moving experience for all who attended, leaving a lasting impact on the families we serve. The event showcased the resilience of our community through the powerful personal stories of families who had experienced grief and found that they were not alone.

One of the most moving moments of the morning was when Prabal Chakrabarti and Vanessa Ruget shared their story. They spoke about their journey through the loss of their beloved daughter, Sajni. Their words struck a chord with everyone present. Prabal shared, “At The Children’s Room, we talked about our children who passed and remembered them. In a safe environment, we worked through our guilt and regrets and comforted and supported each other.”

Their experience wasn’t theirs alone; it represented the strength and resilience of the entire TCR community. At the event, we also heard from other families who bravely shared their own stories of grief and hope in this year’s video presentation which offers a Peek Into Peer Support. Elizabeth Ly, a mother of two, whose husband Vannarin had died of cancer, beautifully summed up in the video the spirit of The Children’s Room when she said, “We get to come somewhere where people get it.” Watch the full video below:

Our programs foster a sense of connection and community by providing a safe space to express their grief. Children, teens, and families who participate in our programs develop coping skills, experience a decreased sense of isolation, and gain an increased understanding that grief is a normal reaction to change and loss. All of TCR’s direct services are offered free of charge to families.

Through the generosity and support of our donors, we continue to significantly impact the families we serve. Every donation helps us continue our mission of providing support and hope to those who need it most. As we reflect on this meaningful event, we carry forward the spirit of hope and compassion. Together, we can light up the darkest moments with our kindness and understanding. To all our supporters, we extend our heartfelt and direct gratitude. Your compassion truly keeps the mission of The Children’s Room alive. We couldn’t do it without you.
