The Children’s Room cosponsored a breakfast to bring together all types of programs and organizations that support victims of violence. This effort is being led by The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute in collaboration with many local partners.

An important part of the work of the Peace Institute and one of the reasons for bringing us all together, is to network and share resources to support this important work. The Peace Institute provides training to families who have been the victim of violence as well educating the community about how to promote peace during these difficult times.

The breakfast took place on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Temple Hillel B’nai Torah, 120 Corey Street, West Roxbury.  We are thankful for their generous donation of space.

In addition to our support and the Peace Institute, the breakfast is sponsored by funding from The Lenny Zakim Fund in partnership with:

  • The Harvard Youth Violence Prevention Center
  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health
  • Wheelock College School of Social Work – BSW program
  • Center for Homicide Bereavement (Victims of Violence Program, Cambridge Health Alliance)
  • True Vine Church
  • Morning Star Baptist Church
  • Boston Public Schools – Unified Student Services
  • Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – Center for Violene Prevention and Recovery
