We are thrilled to announce that Deborah Rivlin, an acknowledged thirty-year expert in the field of child bereavement, has joined The Children’s Room as Director of Education and Training.

Deborah previously spent twenty years with the Good Grief program of Boston Medical Center.  Deborah developed the program The CIRCLE, providing support groups to families.  One of her CIRCLE programs supported families who lost someone on 9/11/2001.  Deborah also serves as an adjunct professor with the National Center for Death Education at Mount Ida College.

Deborah’s expertise is providing workshops and trainings for adults who work with children and teens.  Her trainings provide parents, teachers, counselors and youth workers with the tools, language and strategies needed to deal with stressful and difficult times.  The goal of the trainings is to bridge the understanding between adults and the youth in their lives.

“When adults have the tools, language and strategies they need to communicate with the children and teens in their lives, everyone is better able to withstand challenge,” says Deborah.  “No one can prevent stressful and painful things from happening to the children and teens in their lives, but they can develop the tools and skills to foster resiliency.  These life skills are important for all children and teens to develop.”
