Loss is a universal human experience. Yet the experiences of death, dying and bereavement are profoundly influenced by the culture in which they occur. IWG is an international organization of scholars, researchers, and clinicians in thanatology.

IWG is pleased to draw on its multi-cultural membership to present a unique conference for caregivers on the impact of culture on the experience of loss. Presenters from five different countries will discuss the role of culture and ethnicity in shaping the response to death, with special attention to the implications for working with immigrants in the United States. This conference will provide an exceptional opportunity for medical and mental health professionals, clergy, funeral service professionals, educators, and other caregivers to increase their understanding of the experience of loss among people around the world.
