When Sean Riley’s wife Josephine died of cancer in 2013—on her birthday—his world shifted in an instant. He was left not only grieving but also navigating life as a single parent to their two children. Like so many caregivers who come to The Children’s Room, Sean wanted to ensure his kids had the support they needed while also finding a space for himself to process his own grief.
Sean first connected with TCR before Josephine’s death and after sought support through Parenting While Grieving, a program designed to help parents and caregivers support their children through grief and loss. After Josephine died, Sean and his family participated in programs and continued to seek support from TCR’s expert grief clinicians.
Now, Sean is in a place where he can give back. As President of Mortgage Equity Partners, he uses his company’s platform since 2021 to sponsor TCR’s Circle of Hope Breakfast, our largest annual fundraiser. His support ensures that more families have access to the same life-changing services that helped his own.
Why Corporate Sponsorship Matters
The Circle of Hope Breakfast is both a fundraiser and an awareness-building event. It brings together community members, donors, and new supporters to learn about The Children’s Room and our services. During this powerful one-hour event, we hear directly from families we’ve served as they share their stories.
Sponsoring our annual breakfast is a powerful way to make a direct impact on grieving children and families. All of our services are provided free of charge because we know that the death of a parent/partner, or child often brings financial hardship, and insurance rarely covers grief support. Your sponsorship helps directly fund the programs. In addition, sponsoring the Circle of Hope Breakfast is also an opportunity to engage your team in meaningful philanthropy, connect with other community-focused leaders, and reach over 300 attendees from the Boston Metrowest area.
