Meet Christine
Christine left her Liberian home as a teenager when she was told she had to go abroad for a two-week vacation until her country’s civil unrest settled down. She is “still on that vacation.” After graduating from college and graduate school, Christine has spent most of her career in public health, including as the Administrative Director of Brigham & Women’s Infectious Disease Division.
After her mom’s sudden death, Christine founded Remember Our Mothers, a “program and community which helps women find peace and build resilience.” With her experience in infectious diseases and her understanding of the impact on her community, Christine expanded her skills, becoming a Certified Grief Support Specialist as the onslaught of COVID began. She joined The Children’s Room Board of Directors in 2021 and looks forward to supporting the organization as we expand our presence, reaching more children, teens, and families in their communities. Christine further explains her interest for a guiding concept to this work, “people who walk alongside.” This is a principle of sharing knowledge within the context of an existing community which can greatly expand the impact of our work.
