Summer Bereavement Camps & Programs
For some families, camp is synonymous with summer. The ability to explore the outdoors, try different activities, and meet new friends is part of the excitement of the seasonal break from school. Children who are grieving the death of a parent or a sibling may also want a camp experience but may benefit from one that specializes in bereavement. Campers are peers who have faced a similar loss. The opportunity to play games, swim, go hiking, etc. with campers who “get it” sends the message that it is OK to have fun and be kids, even if the camper lost someone close to them.
As we start to emerge from the pandemic, children’s bereavement camps are opening up for 2021 registrations. We have pulled together a list of these camps and recently checked their status. We will be updating this list over the next few months so check back if you are looking for a bereavement camp experience for your child.
