Creating a Crisis Plan: Helping Your Community Respond to Loss
by Creating a Crisis Team and Plan of Action

This training will provide participants with developmentally appropriate tools and strategies for helping children and adolescents cope with death, dying and loss. Working interactively, we will discuss how to create a ‘crisis’ or ‘caring’ team and a crisis protocol or plan of action. Being prepared with a plan of action before a crisis occurs, will help those involved to feel empowered instead of overwhelmed. Participants will learn how to create a physically and emotionally safe environment in which students and faculty can understand, grieve, commemorate, and go on when a school faces a crisis involving loss.

Presented by Deborah Rivlin, MA, Director of Education & Training at TCR and adjunct professor at Mount Ida College. Deborah has worked in the field of bereavement for over 30 years.  She has previously worked with The Good Grief program at Boston Medical Center, and developed the CIRCLE, a bereavement support program for families who lost a loved one on 9/11/2001.
